Trainee Financial Planner

What you'll find me doing at work

I’m a career changer, so I’m fresh to the financial services profession. I was previously a
Structural Engineer in the Engineering Consultancy industry.

Since starting my new role at Britannic Place, I’ve already been involved in many steps of the Client advice journey. I have
undertaken preparatory work and research prior to Client meetings, sat in on several Client meetings
and prepared the follow-up documents and emails to send to Clients.

As above, I’ve already interacted with several clients for their
annual planning meetings and initial meetings. As I progress, I’ll be involved in more Client
meetings and will eventually have my own Clients where I will be the leading advisor.

Where you'll find me after work

I’m a former national swimmer, fitness enthusiast, and lover of the outdoors. I also share a world record with a hundred fellow swimmers for the fastest 100×100 relay ever completed. My family means everything to me, and when I’m not with them or pushing myself training, you’ll usually find me geeking out over maths puzzles, getting absorbed in a great book, diving into a movie or series marathon, or studying to become a fully-fledged Financial Planner.

In the spotlight

Get to know Sam a little better.

On an ideal weekend, you can find me:

Hiking in the mountains on a fresh, sunny morning, followed by lunch in a traditional British pub with family and friends. A gym session late afternoon before heading out to a nice wine bar in the evening soaking in the atmosphere with loved ones.

My favourite holiday destination is:

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

My favourite song to play in the car is:

Danger Zone – Kenny Loggins

The first album I bought was:

Destiny’s Child – The Writing’s on the Wall

If I could be any fictional character, I would be:

Doctor Strange

If I could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, I would win a medal in:

Winning office bets

When the dessert menu arrives, I’m looking for:

Basque cheesecake

The three qualities that draw me to new people are:

Authenticity, kindness and great energy.

My pet peeve is:

When people do not listen, those who are constantly on their phones, gossiping, poor time management, to list a few.

The best gift I’ve ever received is:

It may sound corny, but the loving relationship I have with my family and long-term partner.

The three people at my dream dinner party would be:

St. Thomas Aquinas, Albert Einstein and Adele

The three small things that make my day better are:

A hearty meal with my family around the dining table with games afterwards, a great workout and a morning coffee.

Three things I haven’t done so far include:

Seeing the northern lights, go skydiving, visit all seven continents.
