Watch Steve and Dean’s appearances on the Purpose People podcast
As clients of Britannic Place will know, financial planning is about more than just wealth management.
When you work with us, we’ll always start with your goals first, and then create a plan for your finances with those objectives in mind, putting you on track to achieve them. Every decision we make is in your best interest, helping you live the lifestyle you want.
In the past 18 months, our Chartered financial planner and director, Steve Perera, and Chartered financial planner, Dean Poulson, have both been invited to talk about this unique approach on the Purpose People podcast.
Purpose People is all about building a purpose-driven life, supported by purpose-driven people.
The podcast is the brainchild of Cre8ion, a brand strategy agency, and episodes are hosted by CEO Darrell Irwin, with some hosted by other members of the Cre8ion team.
The show is all about inspiring people to embrace their “superpower” and change the world by building businesses for impact, rather than just income.
That’s exactly the kind of mission we’re on at Britannic Place, and the reason why both Steve and Dean were invited to talk about their experiences of running a purpose-driven business, focused on helping people achieve their goals.

Steve discussed the importance of pursuing a purpose-filled life
Steve appeared on Purpose People in June 2024. In an episode titled ‘Start as you mean to End’, he and Darrell had a wide-ranging conversation about the importance of intentional, purpose-driven planning, both in terms of your finances but also your life and goals.
Crucially, Steve emphasised the value of starting well to end well – as in, by focusing on what matters to you ahead of retirement, you can head into later life with the confidence that your wealth is suitably organised when you get there.
Ultimately, Steve encouraged listeners to think of retirement planning as an exercise in personal life design, rather than simply financial engineering. By asking that key question of “What kind of retirement life do I want?”, individuals can use their wealth to achieve the most fulfilling outcomes possible.

Dean discusses his professional journey and the value of a financial planning career
In April, Dean appeared on Purpose People to talk with Darrell about his rather unique career journey, why smart investing matters, and the role that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to play in financial services.
Having started out studying sports science, Dean is now a Chartered financial planner at the very top of his game. So, on his episode titled ‘The Finance Mindset’, Dean explained how to embrace a career pivot, talking about how to align purpose with passion, and being resilient during a transition like this.
He also expressed the importance of making intelligent investments that support your life goals, especially for young professionals who are at the beginning of their journey to achieving financial stability.
Finally, he and Darrell discussed how AI will transform financial planning, and what it could mean for both planners and their clients.
As with Steve’s episode of Purpose People, Dean’s is available on most podcast providers, including Spotify and Apple Music. Alternatively, you can watch his episode below on YouTube:
